A co-production between Customs House and Tyne Theatre & Opera House, Geordie the Musical is a heart-warming story of North East life featuring traditional Geordie songs. On the banks of the River Tyne, Bella, James and their daughter Maggie run The Wheatsheaf, a traditional, popular drinking house where folks from near and far enjoy a pint and a sing song. Combining traditional Northumbrian songs and music with the award-winning storytelling skills of Tom Kelly
We provided Lighting Design for the revival of Geordie the Musical at the historic Tyne Theatre. A simple rig of generic and LED lanterns consisting of 4 overhead bars and 4 on stage booms as well as a number of FOH Lighting positions was controlled from an Avolites Quartz supplied by Undefined Group. The nature of the show led to a very atmospheric feel throughout the performance with small elements of traditional musical theatre design during some of the bigger numbers. A heavy use of side lighting added an element of mystery and emotion to some of the softer and dramatic elements of the show.
